You Waited

I am probably the most undeserving person to be loved by God. Even though I made the commitment to live for God and had my water baptism a few years ago (pictured above), I know I’m not perfect.  Can I be completely honest? As much as I want to help everyone I have selfish and ugly ways about myself. When I make up my mind on something, I really don’t care if it’s good or bad, I just do it. Though, people may think, “Well what’s wrong with that? It’s not like you are murdering, cheating, or supporting the devil”. There is a lot wrong with it because I am living on borrowed time by God, so if I waste time doing what I want and not what I am purposed to do, what will my life be valued as? What can God do with a half obedient Christian, who ask to be used for his purpose BUT still want to do my own thing? How can I be an example for those who are and not Christians for God? Think about your child telling you, I respect your rules but stealing from you over and over again. Yeaaaaa …

It’s important to look at our life as greater than ourselves. The people we encounter as more than just a coincidence. The places we work as more than just a source of income. The families we’re in as more than just annoying people we can’t wait to get away from. Everything in God has purpose, from the birds in the sky to each grain of sand on a beach. If God has given those things purpose what more can he do for, with us and through us? I titled the blog “You Waited” because I have come to a place in my life where I know God didn’t have to but he chose to wait on me. For years, he waited for thee most imperfect girl. Knowing how the series of my life would unfold, how long it would take to get rid of filth from my experiences, yet he still said, “Yep, her, that one, I’m not passing up on her, I want her, she’s chosen, she’s mine … I will wait for her!” Like whaaaaaat … pause and think about thee absolute most craziest thing you have done, been in, contributed to … No I mean that thing YOU KNOW WAS HORRIBLE, if people knew you would be ashamed or casted out and yet you are still here because your Father in Heaven was like, “I don’t care I STILL want them”.

God isn’t waiting on us because he has too, he chooses to allow some of us to go through our “phases” and then live a life with him at the center. You have stories where people chose to start living for God under 10 years old to adults confessing Jesus Christ is Lord on their death bed, he made the decision to wait for the youngest to the oldest without second guessing it. Now imagine, when we’re asked to wait for our food at a restaurant, we get anxious and impatient, but God waits decades for his children to say I want to know you for myself. I want to receive my gift of salvation and live for you. And by no means does he take it lightly.

I see at times my Christian brothers and sisters pass so much judgement on the person who lives their life “differently”. A person who lives recklessly, someone who doesn’t control their mouth, dresses provocative, smokes or does drugs, etc … Some Christians will say that person isn’t a child of God BUT how do we know tomorrow if this person will not say God I want to receive my salvation (because God waited). Jesus commands us to love each other as he loved us (John 15:12). Do not get me wrong the Bible does clearly state those who make a practice of wrongdoing under the site of God (there’s an actual list) will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6: 9-10). The Bible also says in 1 John 3: 10, we can tell who are the children of God and who are the children of the Devil. Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not “LOVE” their brother and sister. Is that an oxymoron or just plain facts? The same people judged and those judging are both not considered God’s children (rather than judging love others). The point of all this is at the end of the day WE DO NOT KNOW how long God will wait for someone. If he waited for some, others too need that same favor and grace (according to God’s timeline).

Like this BIG GOD thinks that much of us to Wait …

My prayer is for everyone to just stop and recognized that they do not have to go through this life alone trying to figure it out. God has a purpose for each of our lives and he is willing to wait, I don’ know how long BUT in this very moment He is waiting. Go for it, like this breath…

As the apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 5:10-11: In his kindness God called you to his eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. After you have suffered for a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power in his forever and ever. Amen.

Remember God is waiting … You may not have tomorrow …

If you have no declared the Jesus as your Savior and Lord of your life, please say this prayer below and believe it in your heart. The bible says, There is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents (Luke 15:10).

Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus has paid the price for my sins and I accept that payment on my behalf now. Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God and that God has raised you from the dead and I ask you to come into my heart. I surrender my life to you. I have decided to turn away from my old life of sin and follow you. Father, forgive me, In Jesus’ name.

I recommend after saying this prayer to strongly consider finding a local church family to continue supporting you down this Christian Journey. We cannot do this walk alone, we need help from each other. Also, please send me a message liz@essenceofliz.com if you have questions or a prayer request. God Bless!

Cheers to LIVING ON PURPOSE!
