Refocus Your Lens

HITS will come!!!
You’ve overcome one season and here comes the next test…
You just got over the breakup, and then you realize being alone isn’t as easy as you thought it would be…
You decided to make things work in your marriage, but you are struggling to love your spouse…
You applied and got accepted to a college, but then you start having thoughts of withdrawing within the first month…
You have been praying for your children, one is drawing closer to you as a parent, but the other seems to be getting worst in their mess…
The bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:2-4, there is a time for everything under the sun.
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, …
We are absolutely guaranteed two things in life, a birthdate and death. All the in between requires us showing up and figuring things out with self, man or with God. There is no telling what can happen in the mist of the perfect plans we set out for our lives. Even for those who know for a fact, they were chosen by God to do incredible things, change the world and yet they are working a low income job barely making ends meet. Or they have already gotten married, raising children and life revolves around family. Matter fact they are the person who right now is awaiting trial for a crime they did or did not commit, either way they have been chosen by God. We have the freedom of choice, we try to make the best decisions, and yet an unexpected blow comes that causes/distracts us off our purpose track.
Referring back to Ecclesiastes 3, the chapter speaks to me about the importance of order. Things come together and fall apart with time. “The purpose for time is so that everything does not happen at once”. -Einstein
There is also a rhythm that comes with time in the lives of people that works in sync with God, heaven, and earth … that keeps a natural order. For example there is a time for farmers to take care of the soil before planting seeds (Spring), a time to wait as the ground and seed works themselves (Summer),  a time to enjoy the harvest (Fall)  and there is a time to allow the ground to have a rest in order to reproduce for the coming season (Winter). Like humans, we must be in tune with the rhythm of our lives, understanding which season we’re in, therefore knowing how to approach it. Though, some seasons last longer than others, we can be assured that there is a start and end time.
Readjusting our lens allows us to see/answer three things in each season:
  1. What about my life am I still on a treadmill about (continued pattern)?
  2. What am I suppose to learn in this season ?
  3. How am I suppose to give of myself in this season?
Taking those three things into consideration allows us to evaluate but understand that there is work to be done to keep our minds, bodies, health and spirituality afloat so that we do not sink. There is no perfect formula and for some we go into the next season with unresolved issues from our previous season. For others, they have been in the same season for a loooooong time with no breakthrough. But today is that day to recognize it does not take making an announcement for others to see you doing the work. It starts with you looking at a situation/issue and making a decision to allow the very season you’re in to help you work through it. If you are in a Winter season, you may need to pray and rest, allowing God to handle the issue without any intervention from you. If you are in a Spring season, it may require you praying and putting in the work to figure out that financial, school, or family issue. If you are in a Summer season, it probably requires you pray and forget/forgive the situation in order to trust that things will fall into place for your life. And if you are in a Fall season, you probably need to pray and find ways to enjoy all the hard work you have put in rather than trying to find ways to stress out or deal with unnecessary issues. Just enjoy the fruits of your labor.
The season you’re in right now is not by chance. The situation you are facing is honestly not one that has never occurred before in life. You are on a purpose track, and if every time you come across adversity you halt the progress you’ve been making, you will find yourself stuck. This situation, this season may require another level of commitment from you. Another level of honesty and strength, or humility but either way you have the ability to face and overcome it. There are people and places waiting your arrival, therefore make that commitment to yourself now (….like RIGHT NOW) to readjust your lens on the season you’re in and the issue(s) you are facing.
What is your NEXT STEP?!?!
Cheers to LIVING ON PURPOSE!
